that drive us. In 1984, without much fanfare, the doors to Woodkrest
were first opened in Memphis, TN. by Bob Kress, Sr. with the intentions of
offering affordable post & beam material packages with products of exceptional quality and creative custom designs
across the nation. Without start up capital or partners, most would have
buckled under the strain, but a strong dedication, integrity, and intense desire to succeed
led Bob Kress, Sr. to build a client base that became more like extended family
members and continues to grow across the country. After short period of time, Woodkrest chose to introduce glu-lam log, solid logs, and timber frame material packages and designs to the product line, for those requesting alternatives, in order to provide the quality products people deserve while remaining cost effective. Woodkrest is proud to present the largest product selection with topnotch material quality, broadest unrivaled designs, highest level of individual customization, all the while retaining the most competitive pricing in the industry. Woodkrest was approached with requests for dealer opportunities from family, friends, and Woodkrest clients, which offered local services in various areas of the country, giving future clients the opportunity to visit a local office or the headquarters in Memphis. The lower than market pricing structure allows Dealers to pass the savings onto clients through discounted packages. The commitment to excellence and project dedication soon reeled commercial projects into the portfolio. Woodkrest has successfully created a wide variety of projects, such as; golf course club houses, lodges, pavilions, fitness and wellness centers, retreat facilities, townhouses, condos, convention facilities, driving ranges, restaurants, etc. Woodkrest has always been a proud proponent of Green building methods and environmentally friendly products, to demonstrate our responsibility to helping the environment, we became a U.S.G.B.C. (United States Green Building Council) National member along with the addition of a L.E.E.D. AP (Leadership in Energy Environmental Designs Accredited Professional) on staff for those interested in Green building. Your interest may be energy efficiency, green product implementation, green building methods, and/or attaining L.E.E.D. certification for your project, be it L.E.E.D. for Homes or NC (New Construction - commercial). service for customers. Join the Woodkrest Family and you can live in your dream!    Meet The Team Bob Kress Sr.  Woodkrest Founder   Woodkrest founder, Robert Kress, Sr., was born and raised in upstate New York
and as a young boy he would often follow his father to work. He watched eagerly
as his father, a master carpenter, transformed wood
into art and developed a lifelong passion from a young age which later led to his
true passion of creating homes with true artisan
craftsmanship. Robert began developing his life's direction from the time he was very young beginning with his keen interest in art and engineering, construction knowledge, and classes in drafting and art during school and college. During college, Robert began noticing a few unique and beautiful creations while traveling home, and realized his love for Post & Beam homes and the earth became
his art canvas.As a young man in 1984 with a vision and plenty of desire, Mr. Bob Kress, SR, opened Woodkrest,a national manufacturer of custom Post & Beam material packages in Memphis, TN. The business started with little or no operating capitol, but with plenty of determination, ideas, drive, creativity, and ambition provided by the young man, the dream quickly turned to a successful reality and Woodkrest continues to thrive with Robert, Sr at the helm. Woodkrest began offering Post & Beam packages exclusively, but within a short period of time Glu-Lam Logs, Timber Frame and Solid Log Packages were added, establishing the largest and most versatile product line in the industry. Careful consideration and research went into each new product to determine the feasibility and durability of each species and the building methods before being added to the our Classifications and Product Line. Robert set a goal to help people afford these custom homes, create unique designs, provide the highest quality materials, using building methods which increase the strength of the home while remaining economically feasible, these goals are still at the front of the list for Woodkrest clients. As he determinedly set out on his path alone his vision never blurred but grew more intense and over the years expanded into a thriving packaged home manufacturing with a team of qualified individuals that share his dream and love of these special homes, the entire Woodkrest team shares the same dedication and determination to provide each homeowner with a truly custom home, which meets and exceeds the original expectations of the homeowners. Since opening the doors, we have specialized in custom Post & Beam homes across the country however, through the years, clients presented desires for Timber frame and Log homes, which after much study and deliberation both were proudly added to the product line to establish Woodkrest as a provider of the widest variety of products, styles, and species available. With over 20 years experience in designing custom homes and manufacturing the material packages, we continue to excel and remain a growing leader in the packaged home industry for Post & Beam, Timber frame, and Log homes. Bob Kress, Sr., President of Woodkrest, set a mission goal to provide the personal service that a person wants, needs, and deserves during planning and building of their custom homes. Mr. Kress, Sr's vision involved helping families across the country achieve a Truly Custom home that had been designed to meet the requirements of each family, his vision is still intact and our ultimate responsibility is still our CLIENTS!
